V&A Commemorative Panel

V&A Exhibit Commemorative Medallion

In some of my past posts I’ve written about the upcoming exhibit at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London titled Quilts:  1700 -2010.  Well, there certainly has been a recent swell of activity surrounding this major exhibit which opens March 20th.   I know at least a couple dozen quilt-history-aficionado friends who will be making the trek from the US to London.  And, I’m certain that they will be clamoring for the two exhibit books being published, as well as the exclusive fabric line printed by Liberty of London.

Some months ago my friends and I wrote suggestions on the V&A Textile blog that a commemorative medallion be included in the fabric offerings.  Who knows if our humble suggestions made it to the ears of if the folks in charge or if they had already thought of it….but, I’m very pleased to announce that the center panel (see above) is reality and can be pre-ordered on the V&A Shop website.  Also available for preorder are 18 companion fabrics based on designs are taken from the textile collections of the V&A.

For information on all things surrounding this exhibit, check out the following link www.vam.ac.uk/collections/textiles/quilts-1700-2010/.  There you will find links to the fabric page, events on this exhibit, the curator’s blog, and information on visiting the exhibit.    And, since the exhibit goes through the 4th of July…it’s not too late to consider a leap across the pond.
